“A Self Guide for All Men” is a vintage self-help book written specifically for men by L. W. DeLaurence. Self-help books aim to help the reader with problems, offering them clear and effective guidance on how obstacles can be passed and solutions found, especially with regard to common issues and day-to-day life. Such books take their name from the 1859 best-selling “Self-Help” by Samuel Smiles, and are often also referred to as "self-improvement" books. This particular self-help book concentrates on problems related to men and men's health, and will be of utility to men trying to deal with certain problems.

Contents include: “Insanity and Suicide”, “Facts of this Case”, “Spermatorrhoea”, “Unnatural Indulgence”, “Symptoms of this Terrible Disease”, “Other Symptoms of Self-defilement”, “Sterility and Impotence”, “Impotence and Nervous Debility are Manifested as Follows”, “Sin of Self-defilement”, “Record of Suicide or Self-murder in the United States for the Year 1905”, etc. Many vintage books such as this are becoming increasingly scarce and expensive. We are republishing this volume now in an affordable, modern, high-quality edition complete with the original text and artwork.

    Excerpt

The male organ of generation is composed of a root, body, and extremity, forming with the Testes and their appendages. The gland resembles a figure of a true cone; the interior is composed of a very delicate and highly sensitive set of nerves peculiar unto themselves. When these nerves and the whole male organ of generation of man are in a normal condition be generally enjoys good physical and mental health. However, it is to be regretted that many young men, as well as those during middle age, are so weak that they are unable to properly perform the function for which their organs were created. This, of course, is due to a general deficiency of Sexual force and vitality. This condition has been brought about and superinduced by that terrible state of mind and mental attitude which results from abuse and excesses, and unless this abnormal state is prop erly understood from a mental as well as a physical standpoint the chances of its cure are very small.
