    Zoo
    (2012)
A novel by Michael Ledwidge and James Patterson

New York. Mexico. India. California. All around the world, brutal attacks are crippling entire cities. It isn't the work of terrorists, but of animals, and their somehow coordinated assaults are escalating at a terrifying pace.

Jackson Oz, a young biologist, watches the events with an increasing sense of dread. A coordinated lion ambush in Africa demonstrates the enormity of the violence to come. Could it be the beginning of an all-out war on man?

With the help of ecologist Chloe Tousignant, Oz races to warn world leaders before it's too late. The attacks are growing in ferocity, and soon there will be no place left for humans to hide. With wildly inventive imagination and white-knuckle suspense that rivals Michael Crichton at his very best, James Patterson's ZOO is a non-stop thrill-ride from "One of the best of the best." (TIME)

The Dangerous Days of Daniel X (Daniel X #1)
    by James Patterson, Michael Ledwidge

The Dangerous Days of Daniel X
is a novel by the bestselling author, James Patterson and co-author Michael Ledwidge. From its plot outline, it appears to be Patterson's first science fictionnovel. It released on July 21, 2008.

    Product Description

The greatest superpower of all isn't to be part spider, part man, or to cast magic spells--the greatest power is the power to create.

    Daniel X has that power.

Daniel's secret abilities -- like being able to manipulate objects and animals with his mind or to recreate himself in any shape he chooses -- have helped him survive. But Daniel doesn't have a normal life. He is the protector of the earth, the Alien Hunter, with a mission beyond what anyone's imagining.

From the day that his parents were brutally murdered before of his very eyes, Daniel has used his unique gifts to hunt down their assassin. Finally, with the help of The List, bequeathed to him in his parents' dying breath, he is closing in on the killer.

Now, on his own, he vows to take on his father's mission--and to take vengeance in the process.

    From the Inside Flap

Daniel X works alone. Having watched from the shadows as the brutal events of the murder of his own parents unfolded before him, he has been forced to make his own way in a dark and unforgiving world with a heavy task handed to him.

Daniel’s father was an alien hunter, working his way through a fearsome ‘wanted’ list of aliens intent on seeking control and wreaking devastation. But as he planned his next target, his own time was running out. Following his parents’ sudden deaths, Daniel faced an uncertain future: he knew little about his family nor where he came from but a few things are clear, he has inherited the list from his father and with it, a unique ability to create anything that he needs including some very devoted friends to help him along the way.

His life has become dedicated to the mission. Every day has been transformed into a terrifying hunt, watching each step he takes for danger awaits around every corner and lurks within the shadows. His ultimate aim is to exact revenge against number one on his list: his parents’ murderer. But first he must target the others: each more sinister and gruesome than the last.

Soon enough he finds himself battling the most dangerous foe so far, Ergent Seth, a horse-headed villain who will stop at nothing to recolonize Earth. When all hopes seem to be lost, he meets a new girl at school, Pheobe Cook, who becomes a very close friend and his only human friend. But soon he will realize Pheobe isn't as she seems, she has a terrifyingly dark secret, and this very secret might put an end to Daniel's life.

When the Wind Blows (When the Wind Blows #1)
    by James Patterson

Thấy bạn obscure tìm quyển The Lake House nên mình đăng cuốn When the Wind Blows trước, là tập trước của The Lake House. Truyện này bắt đầu cho ý tưởng của bộ Maximum Ride cũng của tác giả.

    When the Wind Blows
is a novel by James Patterson. It is the prequel to The Lake House and inspired the Maximum Ride series.

The novel is currently set to be adapted into a movie.

Taking a break from his phenomenally successful Alex Cross series, James Patterson's When the Wind Blows is as much child's fantasy as it is an adult nightmare. The novel moves away from the gritty Washington, D.C., setting of the Cross books and follows the daily life of Frannie O'Neill, a Colorado veterinarian. After the mysterious death of her husband several years before, Frannie retreated to an isolated life in her Colorado practice. But a series of bizarre events suddenly disrupts her lonely routine. On a personal level, she is shaken by her new tenant--Kit Harrison. Kit's too handsome and too friendly and he's a hunter (or so Frannie thinks). He's also recovering from a devastating personal tragedy, and, as Frannie eventually learns, he's really an FBI agent using his vacation to follow a crucial lead. But Kit isn't the one that's got Frannie concerned. As she says after stopping her Suburban one night to check out something on the side of the road: "What I saw was way beyond my abilities to imagine, beyond my comprehension, my system of belief, and maybe beyond my ability to communicate right now. The little girl's arms were folded back in a peculiar way, but when she lifted them--feathers fanned out." The girl is Max, and the mystery of her wings leads Frannie and Kit into a massive conspiracy involving secret genetic research and the scientific manipulation of the human species. Patterson, a former advertising executive who coined such catchy phrases as "Nupe it!," knows how to entertain. His chapters are always short (some only two pages), and his writing is clear and unobtrusive; the reading experience is brisk--akin to watching a summer blockbuster. The book is not as dark or as weighty as the tales of detective-psychologist Alex Cross, but while some fans may be disappointed by Patterson's migration from pure suspense fiction, his first-person narrator Frannie, has a quirky realism that keeps this flight of fancy mostly on stable ground.

The Lake House (When the Wind Blows #2)
    by James Patterson

When the Wind Blows (1998), to which this is a sequel, has been Patterson's "most successful novel around the world," according to an author's note. That novel, about children genetically engineered to fly, also thrilled most critics. This one won't, despite some charms, and the reason manifests itself in the three paragraphs-paragraphs, mind-that begin chapter 41: "They were elated to be together again-the flock! The tribe! The family!" Patterson tends toward shorthand writing, and generally it works in his favor, but the problem here is that exclamation points do not engender deep emotions within readers! Nor do italics. And the novel is strewn with both, as well as with too much dumbed-down prose. The plot isn't much to boast about, either. In the original, Max the flying bird-girl and her "siblings" were menaced by the mad scientists who ran the vile laboratory known as "the School," but were helped in escaping by erstwhile narrator Frannie O'Neill, a veterinarian, and Kit Brennan, an FBI agent. Here, Max and her five siblings are menaced by the mad scientist who runs the vile laboratory known as "the Hospital" but are helped by erstwhile narrator Frannie and Kit. So what's new? Not much, other than a few neat touches (for instance, the villain, Dr. Ethan Kane, is addicted to M&Ms) and-in by far the best section of the novel, not coincidentally one in which Patterson slows down-a truly moving description of how Max and the oldest male bird-child mate. The rest is an extended hunt and chase, as Kane goes after Max and her siblings in a medical conspiracy so outrageously unbelievable that readers will blink in wonder. The pages move like the wind that lifts Max's wings, of course, but Patterson can, and has, done far better than this.

Their parents don't understand them, the other kids pick on them, and there are hit men tracking them. In the disappointing sequel to When the Wind Blows, the genetically altered bird-children are back, up to their pinfeathers in danger. This time, Max and her "flock" are up against insane Dr. Ethan Kane and something called the "Resurrection Project," whose aim is world domination. The story plays like an action comic. Hope Davis and Stephen Lang share the narration responsibilities. Unfortunately, every scene is manipulated with music, which detracts from otherwise entertaining performances by two fine narrators. Patterson is a first-class storyteller even when he's not at his best, although improbable plotting and stereotyped characters manage to ground his beautiful futuristic children.
